To be included in such a grand and culturally rich moment is a true milestone for me as an artist, and a celebration of what local art can represent when given the platform it deserves.

For this momentous occasion, I had the honour of creating a one-of-a-kind painting: the majestic Le Morne Brabant at sunset—a site deeply symbolic of freedom and resilience in Mauritian history. I poured my heart into this piece, letting the warm sunset hues mirror the golden spirit of our people: kind, welcoming, and full of life.

The painting also features elements close to our national identity—the beloved dodo, lush tropical flora, and the vibrant natural palette that makes our island so unique. It was my intention to create not just a visual piece, but an emotional one—something that would carry the feeling of Mauritius, its heritage, and its heartbeat.

May this artwork serve as a lasting memory for Atif Aslam, a souvenir that carries with it the essence of our paradise island. May it remind him of the beauty, the love, and the warm embrace he received here in Mauritius.
